(Textual analysis of pain and gain) Evidently in this it really does give of the ambience of masculism from the props on set to the interaction with the store owner; from this clip it does ultimately suggest that rock is the more dominate individual. For example from this wide angle shot the ideology of the hand shake suggest that rock is pulling the weaker shop owner around to show his dominance in the room. Furthermore the three “henchmen” used their male representation to gain access to the guns but also subvert the attention away to the real reason why they need the guns in the first reasons is to kidnap Kershaw. In summery from the clip its evident the man in the red t-shirt is weaker and for him to show his “alpha male” he got “Anthony Mackie” too shot him with the Tasers.   Therefore this is a screening of masochism and from “fight club takes a beating: Masculinity, Masochism and the politics of disavowal” and the f

Research plan (media texts, academic texts and websites)

Media texts What your main focus will be, E.g.: Firstly, my main focus is going to be on Pain and Gain which is a highly masculinised film and this is because of the fact that Text features well know actors that have a impact on young audience this such as Dwayne Jonson in particular.   Other media texts 1.    Steroids under the skin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2wyEJMp9HE 2.    Pumping Iron: pre 21 st century featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger. 3.    Perfect Physique: it states on IMDB “To acquire the best physiques in the world takes relentless desire, fierce drive and unwavering discipline. The struggle is real.” 4.    Fast and Furious series which features a saturated level of Masculine and has urged in my opinion the growth of masculinity because of the attraction audience Fast cars, women and action. Fast and Furious is filled with enigma and action codes that have lead them to making more and more. 5.     Daddy’s home- IMDB states “Brad Whitaker is a radio ho

Critical investigation feedback 01/11/17

Good start to Notes & Quotes document – clearly some solid research there already and you’ve hit the 2,000 word deadline. Well done! ·           This may be due to the formatting on the blog but I would look to divide up your research more and use titles much more clearly. You may also want to add a very brief summary of what it is you are reading (web article, research paper etc.) so when you write the essay later you are able to introduce the quote accurately. ·           One important bit of feedback: your quotes are VERY long. This will actually make it really difficult to use the quotes when you come to write the essay. As you research further, you need to just select the sentence that really makes the point you are trying to make and add that to your N&Q document. Add a note for how you could use the quote too (‘this would help my argument that masculinity is damaging young men’ or similar). ·           Your project proposal is unfinished… and you’re missing t

Media Research:

Your classwork AND homework is to start your Notes and Quotes document and reach at least 2,000 words - due after half-term. http://www.menshealth.co.uk/building-muscle/get-big/the-rock-pain-and-gain-workout-programme :  Men's health does not only have a segment on the rock about the text it also has a segment explaining how he trained for the actual film and within this  aritcle  it states within the opening line  " Take on the workouts the Hollywood heavyweight used to bulk up for his meatiest role".  evidently, this shows that younger individuals are going to be forced to think about their Masculinity, which then follows through to their represent in modern society and this will then overall have a problem with how they look and their image.  on the other hand from the reviewers of the film (from IMDB) and through this research was able to find a majority of  positive comments about the film which consider the fact of representation of young males and also fema
